Titanium oxide
Titanium dioxide is an oxide of titanium used in cosmetic and skincare products because of its versatility of use naturally. As a sunscreen it is most effective as an antioxidant, used as a pigment and viscosity modifier in many cosmetic preparations.
BENIFITS :
Titanium dioxide functions in physical mechanisms by reflecting and in scattering the UV radiation thus preventing the penetration of both UVA and UVB to the skin. It is especially good for use on sensitive skin and can be commonly seen in mineral based sunblocks. The physical sunscreen of titanium dioxide is known to provoke skin irritation than the chemical sunscreen agents, thus it is appropriate for tender skins. Also, it also gives clear, white overly, which defines it’s versatility and uses in products like foundations and powders for creating the ‘matte’ look of the skin. In addition, titanium dioxide can also improve the rheology of cosmetics which can help to make a better feel of the final products.
SKIN TYPES :
Because of its fine texture, titanium dioxide may be safely used on fragile skin and for reaction-prone individuals. For the skin which may be oily, dry or a combination of both it can be safely used, and for this reason it forms a useful addition to many cosmetics.
